The Abortion Figurations team had the privilege of participating in the Annual Meeting of the ISA Research Committee on the Sociology of Law (RCSL) at Lund University. It was an incredible event where we had the opportunity to showcase our project and engage in insightful discussions.
Our team organized the panel ‘Arguing Reproductive Rights,’ chaired by our PI, Marta Bucholc. The panel covered a wide range of subjects, including:
“We are here, we are queer! Abortion regulations and LGBTQI+ people” by Nikoletta Pikramenou.
“From Ruling C-355 (2006) to Ruling C-055 (2022): Trajectories of Sociolegal Mobilization for Decriminalizing Abortion in Colombia” by Carolina Mosquera Vera.
“State Sovereignty on a Skewer: On the Margins of Appreciation and State Sovereignty in the Case of Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights in Poland” by Karina S. de Vries, Marta Bucholc, and Bartek Cyran.
“Inter-American Court of Human Rights: On the Way to Reproductive Justice?” by Lourdes Peroni.
We are thrilled to have been a part of this event and grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the discussions on reproductive rights within the realm of sociolegal studies.
